Chiara Bettazzi Exhibit

MAD Murate Art District is a cultural space in the heart of Florence, located in the former Murate prison complex. A place that carries the memory of the city and transforms it into a stage for research-based contemporary art, with a programme of exhibitions, residencies, and projects that place experimentation and dialogue with the local area at their core. Founded with a strong commitment to accessibility, MAD presents itself as a space open to everyone, where art is not a privilege but a tool for encounter and collective transformation.

THE PROJECT

I curated, together with Valentina Gensini, the exhibition by artist Chiara Bettazzi hosted at MAD Murate Art District, an original production born from the collaboration between MAD and Museo Galileo. An exhibition project centred on the theme of the storage space, a place of preservation but also a space of hidden memories, which created a dialogue between the scientific instruments of Museo Galileo and the materials of the Murate complex, reinterpreting them through a new geography of vision with the artist’s site-specific installation. The exhibition was open from 10 May to 23 July 2023.
